Brad Spencer
Executive Director

Welcome to PATH Employment Services. It is my privilege to serve as the Executive Director of an agency with such a long history and serving such an important cause. It is a pleasure for me to work with dedicated, professional staff, committed Directors on our Board, and a diverse group of community partners, including employers and funders. Working together helps us to provide the best, effective and innovative programs and services to people with any kind of disability.

I have been a member of the helping profession for several years, specializing in employment programs and services. I have had the opportunity of working both with non-profit agencies and government. Growing up in a home where my father was an independent business person, I knew well the challenges faced in operating a business.

Disability is a prominent aspect of all our lives as the huge majority of us have a friend, family member or some kind of limitation ourselves. 1 in 7 people in Ontario have a disability. That represents approximately 1.85 million people in Ontario. By 2036 that number will rise to 1 in 5 as the population ages.

PATH supports the Government of Ontario’s Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, 2005, (AODA). A province that is accessible to all of its people is needed now. I was appointed by the Minister of Community and Social Services to assist in the development of the Employment Accessibility Standards. These standards, included in the Integrated Accessibility Standards Regulation, are coming into force. Businesses and organizations must do their part and comply with these regulations or face fines. Give me a call if your business needs help in meeting these standards.

We have many important partners in the community including Mohawk College, City of Hamilton, A.B.E.A., Rotary Club, Hamilton Association for Community Living, VPI Inc., John Howard, Wesley Urban Ministries, Goodwill, Ontario March of Dimes, L’ACFO, Mission Services and the Workforce Planning Board. Last year we partner with Conference Board of Canada on an AODA Employment Standards Workshop. I am currently a member of the Ontario Business Improvement Area Association (OBIAA) Accessibility Smart Business Advisory Committee.

We strive to represent the employment interest of people with disabilities, representing them at many community forums we attend on a regular basis. Our success is rooted in relationships. Relationships with the individuals we work with, the community we serve, funders that appreciate the importance of what we do and very importantly businesses that are willing to see people for what they can do.

Thanks for visiting our website. We are always open to comments and any suggestions you might have that would help advance our services or improve this site.

Don’t hesitate to contact me directly if I can be of assistance.

Yours truly,
Brad Spencer
